How would you describe the style of this new era? Would you say it has a grungy, e-girl feel to it? Maybe you would say it can perfectly be described as a trippy, futuristic modern take on the y2k era of fashion? Or perhaps you would describe it as the time for the comfy, cute sweatpants vibe to thrive? Well, all of these answers can be considered correct! With the popular new interest in vintage clothing and thrifting, there’s really not one style that can define us. The fashion of the decade has been taken over with vintage fever and it seems everyone is on board in their own sort of way!

As a long time, trend follower, I’ve always found myself looking to keep up with the latest looks while also keeping my own look fresh and unique. It's for this reason that I absolutely adore being alive in this era! It seems our current sense of fashion can only be described as “new vintage”. Vintage fashion and thrifting have been growing in recent popularity in the last couple of years. I like to contribute this to the big-name brands cheating out on the quality of their products. Nowadays, it seems newly made garments are as flimsy as paper and denim definitely no long holds its shape or has the same density it used to. One reason I love vintage fashion is because vintage clothing is simply made better. In a world where all the top brands are trying to make cheap knock offs of 1970’s styled flare jeans, or 1990’s styled denim jackets, why wouldn’t you thrift for a cheaper piece that is much more well made. When dealing with fashion, quality is everything and when something is made poorly, it shows! Vintage fashion also allows you to keep your look personalized and unique. Ever bought a new piece of clothing that you were absolutely dying to wear to school, but when you arrived with your new threads three other girls had the same one in different colors? Vintage fashion allows you to be individualized and own pieces almost no one else has! Thrifting for gems is really not too difficult at your local thrift store and its simply because only you have an eye for what you can create with a garment! I love fashion because it allows us to express who we are on the outside, and vintage fashion is the perfect way to stand out!

Living in a decade that’s sense of fashion is collecting the best pieces of the past is so much fun! It allows us to have endless forms of self-expression. It seems the hottest items on trend today are only the best pieces from the last 70 years of fashion. It used to feel as if every couple of years, one decade in particular would shine in style above the rest, but nowadays, it seems we’ve just combined all of them. Wondering what era I like to shop for the most? I honestly couldn’t even tell you. I personally love to combine different pieces from the 70s to the early 2000s to create my own personal style. One day I might be a disco diva, and the next I might be a 90’s punk. It all just depends on my mood and what sides of myself do I wish to express. Most days my outfit consists of several different vintage pieces from random eras. With this new generation of creativity, the possibilities are endless! Want to try thrifting for vintage looks and don’t know where to start? In the new age of technology, there are what seems like thousands of thrifting websites to look through if you can’t make it to the store! My favorite is depop because the layout allows you to find those thrifting gems much easier than looking in stores. Whatever your fashion ascetic is, vintage shopping is a great way to find a new way to express your own personal style that no one can define but you! In a world where everyone was told for so long to look and act the same, let's take this new era of fashion to actually individualize ourselves and make the world a more creative and beautiful place! #fashion #vintagefashion #thrifting #style #selfexpression #fashionista #fashionofthepast

Valentine’s Day can be a time for blossoming romance, deep passion and affectionate embrace! Or for some it can just be an over-done, cheesy, in your face reminder, of how they don’t have a partner to celebrate with. Whether you’re a hopeless romantic this Valentine’s Day or as single as a Pringle, this should be a day to celebrate love! Love from a partner, love from your best gal pals, love from your favorite furry friend or just simply the love you have for yourself! If you're spending the holiday alone, don’t let yourself get caught crying under the covers with a carton of melty chunky monkey ice cream. You need to dress to impress yourself! Take this February 14th as a day to celebrate how far you’ve grown and the love you have for yourself, and make sure you have the outfit to do it! And if you do have that special someone to celebrate that ooey-gooey, lovey-dovey feeling with, you should still dress yourself to impress YOURSELF! Every time you get dressed for absolutely any occasion, remember you are your own biggest critic and you should be dressing to express you! Why suffocate yourself in a sweaty pair of spanks, skin tight dress and blister blossoming heels to perhaps impress you're blissfully unaware date? No matter what your situation is this Valentine’s Day, you deserve to feel hot as the equator while still feeling cozy as the teddy bear you may or may not be receiving this holiday. You deserve to feel sexy for you and comfy for you too, and despite popular beliefs, you don’t have to take out a loan to do it. No need to break the bank on a flashy outfit you’ll hate to wear once! Here’s how to dress to impress yourself this Valentine’s Day and at an affordable cost too!

If there is one thing I can say as a fashion enthusiast, but also as a broke college student, digging through the couch cushions for loose change, is as much as I love couture, I absolutely HATE wasting my money on overpriced items! There is no need to spend hundreds of dollars on that trendy top that probably won’t be in style next season. Knowing where to shop is the key to looking like a million bucks at a low cost. My two favorite stores to shop for in the mall are Forever 21 and H&M. They tend to keep up on the latest trends and for a low cost. Online shopping is also a great way to find some great steals. My favorite low cost online stores are ROMWE, SHEIN, Misguided and Fashion Nova. These websites are great for finding special deals and offers. Something I like to live by is never head to checkout without a coupon when online shopping, because I promise you with just a quick google search, you will be in coupon heaven! Another great place to shop are discount stores such as Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. These stores often have discounted designer brands and have lots of little cute finds you didn’t know you needed before. These stores also go through their inventory quite fast so most of these finds will have you looking pretty unique! When you learn where to find the deals, becoming a style icon becomes a lot easier! And don’t worry, I’ll list links to these sights below!

Now that you know where to find the style gems, lets get to the V-day fit! For my outfit I chose to go for a comfy-sexy look, with a bohemian 1970s inspiration and a splash of that Valentine's Day love. For my top I choose this lilac satin shirred crop top from Forever 21. I chose this bohemian top because it is very flattering for my figure but is also very breathable and flowing. I also chose this top because it's my favorite color, and remember we are dressing to impress ourselves here! Next for pants I chose a pair of white fuzzy flair pajama pants from Forever 21. Yes, you read that right, pajama pants! Flared fuzzy pajama pants are so in style right now and are so so comfy! Wearing these pants feels like walking through a cloud all day! On top of them being the coziest pants on earth, they also compliment the bohemian flow style of my top and are extremely slimming, while giving a nice boost to your bum! Moving down to our make or break piece, SHOES! Whether you choose a hippie Chelsea boot or a strappy heel, shoes often can redirect the overall tone of your outfit. To compliment my lilac and white combo, I chose to pair my creation with a 1960s inspired two strapped mini wedge Steve Madden. I actually found these designers from Marshall’s for a great price! This will be sure to give my look the semi-formal, feminine look I wish to achieve and thanks to the mini wedge, I’ll actually be able to walk by the end of the night! Now to some, this may feel like a complete look, but not to us fashionistas! Let’s talk accessories! Accessories, much like shoes, navigate what your look is going to say about you. For my accessories, I decided to include a gold ring chain waist belt from Forever 21, a corduroy Gabbie hat from Windsor, a lilac mini purse from T.J. Maxx, and lavender heart shaped earrings from Forever 21. My belt and hat add to the contemporary 1970s flare my outfit has, while my mini purse brings a more modern trendy feel to this fit. I topped the masterpiece off with heart shaped earrings to give my outfit the perfect Valentine’s feel. Always remember the perfect outfit is all in the details, and they can make or break your look!

I created this outfit with keeping my self expression, comfort and confidence in mind. This is an outfit that truly expresses me and my personal style and you might totally hate it and that’s totally fine! I created this outfit for me and I adore it! Make sure you’re taking the time to listen to yourself and learn what you want your style to say about you! Remember this Valentine's Day is also about the love you have for yourself, and nothing makes me feel better than an outfit that I feel truly represents me! Don’t totally hate my outfit? Check out the shop section of my site to find the pieces I am wearing here or similar pieces to recreate the outfit! There are links to the websites you can purchase these items from in the descriptions! I hope, with my advice, you go out there and dress to impress YOURSELF this Valentine’s day and make it one to remember! #fashion #style #bohemian #modern #styleicon #love #selflove #selfexpression #selfgrowth #valentine #valentinesday #bemyvalentine #Vintage #trendsetter
